Cheap as chips

Some of my family never seem to get round to eating much fruit.

It's not that they don't like it - they do - but they come up with all sorts of reasons for not eating it.

One of the reasons they give me is that fruit is too expensive.  But it's just not!

A single packet of crisps costs around 50p.  You can buy a banana AND an apple for 50p and still have some change.  A chocolate bar costs around 60p.  That's twice as much as a pear or a satsuma.

Even exotic treats are not that pricey.  You can get a really big pineapple that will feed 4 for £2.00. That works out at 50p each, the same price as a packet of crisps!

And if you're worried that it will go off before you get round to eating it, you can always buy canned fruit.  You can get cans of pineapple, peaches and pears for less than the 60p you spend on a bar of chocolate.

To be honest I think the real reason is just habit.  Sometimes without really thinking about I get into the habit of not eating things I actually really like.  And even worse the habit of eating things that I really don't enjoy!

Note to self:  Don't get out of the habit of enjoying fruit
Did you know? A habit of 5 portions of fruit and veg a day can reduce our risk of heart disease, stroke and cancer.
